Aisling Bea

Aisling is an Irish-born comedian that has been in the business for some time. Born in Kildare, Ireland on the 16th of March 1984. She has been on QI alongside Stephen Fry. Aisling O'Sullivan, also known by her stage name Aisling Bea (born on 16 March 1984), is an Irish writer, actress and stand-up comedian. After playing bits in a variety of Irish and British television shows since 2009 Bea began her stand-up comedian in 2011. The comedian began to appear often on sketch comedy and sitcoms in 2012. After she was awarded an award at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards (ECA) in 2012, she began appearing regularly in various panel programs. In 2016 through 2017, she served as a captain on 8 Out of 10 Cats as well as a frequent participant for the spinoff 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. Parents include Brian and Helen O'Sullivan. She has an older sister named Sinead. She was only the second ever woman to win So You Think You're Funny. Bea was given to her to honor her father. Aisling O'Sullivan, whose real name is as Cliodhnadh Aisling was born in Kildare town, which is located in County Kildare. Bea's father Brian was an equine vet who took his own life when Bea reached the age of three, was the sufferer of self-harm. Bea was informed of his suicide only after 13 years old. The stage name she chose was Bea as a tribute to her father. She also published an article in The Guardian in 2017 about the suicide of her family members. Bea (and her sister Sinead) were brought up in a home by Helen Moloney, a teacher and jockey trainer who was a professional jockey. They were obsessed with races as well as horses. Bea began her career as a tourist guide at the Irish National Stud. But she quickly realized that her love was acting, not racing.
